Jefferson  is an experienced 14 year trial and appellate attorney having handled cases in multiple Texas and federal courts, including the Texas Supreme Court and the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Jefferson has represented clients before state and federal bodies including the Internal Revenue Service and is licensed to practice in U.S. Tax Court. Prior to joining ZMF, Jefferson handled over 30 appeals.

Recent Projects
  • Assisted multiple clients through an IRS collection process. Clients included taxpayers who had entered tax collection and had received notices of tax liens prior to engagement of alliantgroup. Assistance included handling and representation such as collection appeals, engaging the IRS taxpayer advocate, exploring bond options to stay collection and filing suit in Tax Court and U.S. District Court.
  • Represented a manufacturing client in Tax Court. Provided a full defense for client from filing all necessary pleadings and motions to handling hearings and settlement negotiations.
  • Provided representation for a hair products client in the Court of Claims. Representation entailed providing full defense including taking of depositions and handling settlement negotiations. Provided representation of an automotive parts manufacturer in U.S. District Court. Assisted in working out an agreement for stay of court proceedings while IRS engaged in a new review of the file.
  • Provided representation for taxpayers before the Massachusetts Tax Appellate Board. Obtained resolution for an architectural and engineering client at 100% sustention. Obtained sustention at 80% for a client who designs building control systems and other air conditioning and security system solutions for offices and hospitals.
  • Provided a full defense in Tax Court for a client who provided engineering and design of thermal processing solutions. The representation and defense resulted in an agreed resolution with the government at many times the amount of tax credit sought by the client during IRS examination.
