Ms. Montenegro began her legal career working in complex commercial litigation. Ms. Montenegro gained extensive experience in construction defect defense and insurance defense, including defense of developers, general contractors and subcontractors, personal injury, premises liability and products liability in Arizona, Colorado and California. She also has experience in insurance coverage issues including drafting coverage opinions and litigating coverage disputes.

Ms. Montenegro has extensive experience in all phases of litigation including initial investigation and assessment, voluminous document review and analysis, legal research and writing, site inspections, discovery and disclosures, fact investigation, motion practice, lay and expert witness depositions, motions in limine, trial preparation and assisting in trial.

Notable cases Ms. Montenegro worked on include Henn v. Residences at Little Nell Development, et. al. where she prepared fact and expert witnesses, conducted numerous depositions, attended mediation, drafted motions, and prepared for trial; and Purvis et. al. v. CB Richard Ellis, et. al, where she conducted extensive deposition, drafted motions, attended mediation and prepared for trial. Ms. Montenegro also represented D.R. Horton, Shea Homes and Optima in complex construction defect litigation matters and conducted hundreds of depositions of fact and expert witnesses, prepared motions for summary judgment and motions in limine, attended mediations, attended site inspections with expert witnesses, and prepared for trial.

Ms. Montenegro began her work in tax controversy in 2015. Ms. Montenegro represented mid-sized and large corporations in state and federal examinations, as well as before the United States Tax Court. During audit representation Ms. Montenegro performed initial evaluations, drafted responses to Initial Document Requests, attended site visits with agents, negotiated settlements, and presented at Appeals Conferences. Additionally, Ms. Montenegro prepared evidence, discovery, motions, and attended trial before the United States Tax Court.
